About Us

Sanctuary Centennial

Throughout the year 2014, we celebrated the 100th birthday of our historic and artistic sanctuary building! The church dates back to 1882 (actually earlier than the city of Temple) and had a beautiful sanctuary that burned to the ground in 1911. There was no holding down this congregaton. They built what stands now by going out on a limb of faith and trusting God to provide. Indeed, God provides abundantly. The original investment of $75,000 (lots of money back then) was completely paid off by 1920.

FUMC Temple has a rich history and a bright future with new buildings recently built and new land purchased so there is space to grow in the years ahead.
