Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts

Please consider contributing to disaster relief efforts in the following ways:

  • Donate to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) where 100% of donations go directly to providing for victims of the hurricane as overhead and administrative fees are covered by the church's connectional mission giving. Please know your funds are going directly to help as needed. Click HERE do donate directly to UMCOR.

  • Join our Early Response Team (ERT). The ERT members must register to attend one UMCOR training. We are sending a group to the training held on Saturday September 16, 2017 from 9am-5pm (Round Rock, TX: deadline to register - Sept. 12). Alternative training dates for those unable to go to Round Rock on Sept. 16 include Sept. 23 (Granbury, TX: deadline to register - Sept. 18) and Oct. 14 (Arlington, TX: deadline to register - Oct. 9). Cost of training is $30 and includes a meal and class materials. Please contact the church office to register for your class and begin the Ministry Safe application process that is required to be completed prior to the training session.

  • Financial donations may be brought to First United Methodist Church of Temple and will be given to UMCOR. If writing a check, please make it out to the church with "Flood Relief" in the memo line. We will also take up a special communion rail offering going to UMCOR for relief efforts on Sunday September 3rd in all three worship services.

Though the storm may end, the effects will last much longer. Please click HERE for a word of hope from Bishop Michael Lowry, Episcopal Leader of the Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church, to see how United Methodists in our geographic area are helping.

Please join us as we continue praying for the victims and first-responders.
